Horsetooth Falls - Fort Collins, CO | Elopement Session

Knowing there’s a landmark or beautiful overlook at the end of a hike always gives me a little extra motivation along the way. Waterfalls are some of my favorite gems to find, and holy cow do they make for amazing elopement spots! 40 minutes out, and 40 minutes back, this is one of my favorite spots to go hiking and the views do not disappoint!

We started the hike with Bree & Caleb around 4:00pm on a Sunday in February. We arrived at the falls around 4:30 and took some bridals with Bree first (while Caleb went alllll the way back down the trail to look for their keys!) And holy cow, with gorgeous florals from Kick Grass Florals and a lovely cape from an artist on Etsy, Bree looked like a winter princess.

She didn’t even hesitate to scale the giant rock that typically sits in a pool of water during warmer months. But, during the winter, everything freezes over and the waterfall turns into more of a trickle, leaving the pool empty or just a little snowy.

Caleb joined her up on the rock when he got back for some epic couples shots! It was close to 5:00 and the sun was pretty much gone behind the mountains but the ambient light in the sky was perfect. We snuck around the backside of the rock into a little cave area for a little bit of slow dancing and some moodier photos. After wrapping up at the actual falls, we headed back down the trail to find a couple of favorite spots we saw while hiking up. (Peep Bree’s “something blue” in her hiking socks! HAD to snap a photo of them!)

So many sweet & simple moments and details were shared & captured that day. I was lucky enough to snag some video throughout the day to create a mini highlight film — hopefully, you’re as obsessed with this snowy Horsetooth Falls elopement session as I am!
