Here are 10 dreamy-but-down-to-earth places in NoCo that are perfect for a real and candid proposal experience:
1. Horsetooth Reservoir (Fort Collins, CO)
It’s a classic for locals - but hear me out: sunrise on the east side of the reservoir? Unreal. There are tucked-away spots with cliffside views that feel private and cinematic without the big crowd energy.
2. Reservoir Ridge Natural Area (Fort Collins, CO)
Totally underrated trail with sweeping views of the foothills + wildflowers in the spring. You can walk out to the overlook and be completely alone. It’s peaceful, raw, and has just enough drama for a big moment.
3. Lory State Park – Arthur’s Rock
This one's for the adventure couple who doesn’t mind a little sweat for the view. The hike is short-ish but steep, and the top? Totally bucket list. Bring snacks, pack the ring, and enjoy the quiet once you’re up there.
4. Callahan House Gardens (Downtown Longmont)
If you’re into vintage charm and romantic garden vibes, this historic little spot is such a win. It’s tucked away in downtown, so it gives that mix of elegance and lowkey. Think “secret garden meets downtown stroll.”
5. Devil’s Backbone (Loveland, CO)
Rugged and beautiful without being too much. There are spots along the trail that feel wild and wide open. Pro tip: golden hour hits different here.
